Ivy Stickers

Ivy? or generic vines?

I have had a friend request an ivy tattoo, and since then I have put some kind of reference to ivy in all my work. The stylized flow of the living shape works seamlessly for defining space and structure, from which a natural progressive composition may flourish. I wonder how these would look in vector....

Ill make my own damn stickers

I have met my goal for today, make a post before the end of the year. I went through a huge purge today and organized, collated and sorted though the piles of crap that quickly accumulated after my move. I discovered sticker paper, and clear glossy sticker paper. This is my way of making ghetto vinyl stickers. I do like the results though, designing and cutting them myself allows for more freedom.

I guess I should do an end of the year wrap up post about the last year creatively...but maybe later. It is about time to get moving and would not want to be late to hedonism.

a success, though a little glossy

Notebook retirement party

black on black

I Have now found myself stuck in a transitional period. I have reached the point where it is time to retire a dear friend, at least this year's friend. It is an interesting point to reach when it is time to strike again into the land of new verdant pages of different notebooks. So I have decided to document some select pages to display as a way of benchmarking my skillz so far. Check out the rest over at my flickr page if these examples intrigue you.

Turducken

Maybe one day I will get really motivated to back document previous notebooks, if I do not find them too embarrassing that is.

Guide me Misty Poets

being bored at work is super fun

Something I did the other day while at work. It seems my best nonsensical doodles originate from frustration and paranoia.

Explaining the process

To elaborate on the previous post, I will describe the process I used to develop these series of Orange renders. The model I used to generate these renders is the product of a sleep deprived evening as the result of a surplus of caffeine. I used basic rules to construct an eisenmen style form, with a resulting model that looked very similar to ancient Design I exercises. When I was not satisfied with my clunky first draft model, I dramatically scaled it to create a more delicate and intricate form.
a clean transition of the various stage of render

Once I had a model I liked I then began to extract views. While in these fixed perspectives, I began to color certain vertical and horizontal elements. By controlling the color conditions through the micro, I conjured a whole composition in the macro. The final images I generate are a composite of multiple different render styles, including the prominent podium base render.

a view from up top, these perspectives determined overall color placement choices
